Is Resourcing A Blossoming Trend?

Electronic companies like Flextronics seeks to help start up entrepreneurs  make their ideas come to life in a quicker “time to market” period.

Over the years, due to the lower labor costs, many have outsourced to China for their manufacturing solutions.  However, there has been a blossoming of resourcing in Silicon valley, experts say.

Small start up companies and even big ones are now looking into their local companies for their design and manufacturing solutions for their electronic products. Silicon Valley companies are looking into getting a faster turnaround time.

Flextronics, the company responsible for Microsoft’s Xbox game console and Google’s smartphones aims to provide such end-to-end solutions as Zahid Hussain, the company’s site manager said in a Reuters interview. Having spent $12 million for their California site upgrade (and more in the next months), Flextronics is ready to meet the demands of companies who want to get their products out in the market faster. They now have facilities that can turn ideas into life within 72 hours or even less.

Seeing the importance of delivery time to the market in relation to their survival as a company, startups will consider resourcing more and more. As Thomas Dinges, an analyst at IHS said, companies who are after a tight deadline with their production will consider facilities like Flextronics.

Well, with Google seeking help for a local manufacturer for its Nexus Q home entertainment device, it seems big companies will start to do so too.

What about you? Are you considering to hire local companies for your business solutions instead?
