Dorian Howard worked as a Production VP for Paramount before she gave up everything to follow her dream-to have a business in fashion.
Without experience in fashion or e-commerce, Dorian together with her sister who gave up being a product developer for Toys R Us, put up Milk & Honey Shoes – an online business where women can order and design their own shoes.
Dorian used her network to reach high-end customers while Ilissa used hers to get manufacturers in China. After meeting with cobblers in HongKong and tech teams in the country, they launched in January 2011. Though refusing to spill out the exact digits, their revenue has doubled since then.
The sisters have been selected as mentors by Launchpad LA, a business incubator that offers expertise and work space to promising tech start-ups. They have showed that even with the lack of expertise in certain backgrounds, one can still become a success.
